Sleepers
We stock high-quality Soft-Wood and long-lasting, landscape grade Oak Sleepers.
Oak Sleepers are a heavy-duty option for landscaping projects where strength, durability, and a natural aesthetic is required. Over time when exposed to the elements small splits, surface cracks and movement are a normal part of the aging process and reflect the natural characteristics of oak. They start off as a gold colour and go through a process of a blotchy, darker, stained look and finally a silver grey colour as it seasons. This natural cycle of seasoning will take 4-12 months depending on sun-light and location of the sleepers. We think that the natural imperfections of Oak sleepers are a great to way add character and soften harsh lines of a landscaped garden.
Softwood Sleepers are more uniformed in appearance and a cheaper option, our softwoods are pressure treated and will weather to a silver grey tone. Minor surface splits and cracks may develop as the timber adjusts to outdoor conditions, this is a normal part of the aging process and does not affect structural integrity. We think the more uniformed appearance of softwood sleepers make then ideal for when a consistent, clean look is important.
